Most, if not all, of the Quizlet flashcards have been uploaded. These flashcards are for words/phrases taught last year, and students should review Quizlet as part of their summer homework. To use, please go to Quizlet.com (or use the Quizlet app), and search under RCSMD. Many thanks to the teachers, Li Ives, Abby Duh, Sylvia Yee, and Teresa Lee for your hard work (and my apologies to anyone who I forgot to mention).
SUMMER PICNIC -- August 31 @ Cabin John Park
Let's celebrate a wonderful summer and the start of another great year at RCS. The picnic will be held at Cabin John Park on Sunday, August 31 from 11 am to 3 pm. Burgers and hotdogs will be supplied by RCS, and we'll have a sign up in mid-August to RSVP and for contributing sides, drinks, and desserts. In the meantime, please mark this date on your calendar!!!
If you have not already done so, please remember to register for the 2014-2015 school year. The registration form is attached to this email, and you can also find it at http://www.rcsmd.org/files/literature/3753.5552_RCS_Registration_Form_2014-2015_final.pdf.
REFER A FRIEND DISCOUNT AND SPREAD THE WORD!
We need your help to spread the word among your friends about RCS. If you refer a family to RCS, your family will receive a $50 tuition discount for the second semester that the new family attends the school. Please make sure your friend notes on the registration form that they were referred by you! In addition, if you are on any community bulletin boards, listservs, or have access to other means of getting word out about RCS, please let me know and I can help you to draft some language to post. We greatly appreciate your help!

NATIONAL SECURITY LANGUAGE INITIATIVE FOR YOUTH (NSLI-Y) PROGRAM
A fellow parent asked us to share the attached information about the NSLI-Y program. This program is funded by the US Department of State and provides scholarships for high school students to learn less commonly-taught languages in summer and academic year overseas immersion programs. This summer, Aaron Feigenbaum studied Chinese at Beijing University.
