WORD RECOGNITION CONTEST
Congratulations to everyone on having a fantastic word recognition contest. The judges were very impressed by the students. So, thank you to the students, parents, and teachers for working so hard to prepare and learn the characters.
FIELD DAY FORMS -- DUE THIS SUNDAY (April 13)
Please fill out the attached form to let us know whether your child will be participating in any races/events at Field Day, which will be held here at Churchill on May 4th from 11 to 5 pm (food stands open at 11 am). [Please note that we would like a form submitted for your child even if you are denoting that your child will NOT be participating in any event. Beyond the races specified on the registration form, there will be games and fun relay races for kids age 3-12 such as the parachute, spoon race, potato sack race, etc.] Please complete the attached form and email it to Shyh-Han Tan at email@example.com, or submit the hard copy at the table in front of the Churchill Cafeteria this Sunday, April 13. T-SHIRT SALE -- April 13
For the Field Day on May 4 (more on that later in this email), we would like every student to wear the RCS t-shirt or something green. RCS t-shirts will be sold at the snack table this Sunday, and they cost $10. You are also welcome to bring in washed/clean RCS t-shirts that your child has outgrown for us to give to another student.
ZHU LAOSHI, MARTIAL ARTS -- April 13
Zhu Laoshi, who teaches the afternoon martial arts class, will not be at RCS tomorrow. However, we have the props from him, and the students will still practice their routines.
SPRING BREAK, NO SCHOOL -- April 20Due to the spring break, we will not have school on April 20.
FIELD DAY -- May 4
This year, Field Day will held conveniently at our school on May 4. Classes will end at 11:40 am, and parents should promptly pick up their children and proceed to assemble at the track field by 12:10 pm. We would like every student to join the opening ceremony and march around the field. For children ages 3-12 years old, there are also fun games that they can participate in, such as parachute, spoon race, jump rope race, carrying tennis ball race, and sack race.
FIELD DAY FOOD DONATION REQUESTMost schools will have food stand, and our stand will be #8. The stands open at 11 am; if you have a signature dish or desserts to donate, please contact Agnes Kiang at email@example.com.
Some familes have been using Quizlet to help their children with the flashcards. If you have any flashcard to share, please email Sylvia Yee at firstname.lastname@example.org; she will organize the cards to share with the rest of the families.

- Buddy Families
- We are still looking for buddy families for families new to RCS. If you are interested and available to be a buddy family, please contact Teresa Lee. We would welcome families at all levels, but are particularly looking for families with a child in Level 1 or Level 2, and another child in a higher level of RCS.
- Lunch Table
- There will be lunch service this Sunday. Along with ordering lunch, you can buy grocery certificates and gifts cards (Giant, Meixin, Kam Sam, HMart, and Great Wall) to help support RCS.
- Volunteers Needed
- All families should volunteer at least once per semester to help run the school and during special events. Please visit Sign Up Genius and help as much as you can, so that we can have a successful school year. If you have questions, please contact Teresa Lee.
